Internal Kung Fu for Self Autonomy (Bagua Circle Walking)

Picture

Saturday March 11th, 10am-5pm
Health Benefits of Bagua:
-The practice of Baguazhang is an art that promotes self-healing and longevity because it cultivates the body at its highest functioning level.
-It stems from ancient Taoist and Buddhist body philosophy and works in a way that is drastically different than modern exercise.
-It is holistic in that it works on everything internal and external at the same time and does not create a program for the isolated exercise of one body structure or organ.
-The practice only requires you and no other elements and is done outdoors in almost any weather.
-It encourages practice in the early morning when the organs are rested as opposed to the evenings, when the body is depleted by stress and work.
-The focus is on fortifying tendons and bones not muscles.
-It works from within the spine out and not from the extremities in.
-It finds quickness in slow moves and thus prevents injury and promotes elevated breathing practices.
Through consistent practice, Bagua restores the flow of Qi and cleans the body’s blood. It rejuvenates, removes blockages, and thus can keep mental and physical illness from starting or settling in.
What is Baguazhang?:
Baguazhang is a Taoist martial art based on the classic Chinese philosophy book IChing, where the Ying Yang symbol and Chinese traditional medicine originate.
It is an internal practice that teaches the roots of Kung Fu - meaning how to cultivate and channel your energy for self-healing, center and balancing of creative energy, and autonomy of being.
This introduction session provides standing Taoist postures that align the body and mind according to Chinese traditional medicine and movement components to start practicing basic bagua circle walking.

Non-Violent Communication 1 Day Workshop w/ Rodger Sorrow

Picture
Sunday March 12th, 10am-5pm
Participants will learn to:
Connect with our own inner truth or values
Listen compassionately to the heart of others
Express ourselves without judging, blaming or criticizing others
Strengthen connections with family, friends and colleagues
Transform conflict into trust and cooperation
About Rodger Sorrow:
I’m a certified trainer for The Center for Nonviolent Communication since 2001. Nonviolent Communication (NVC) has changed my life. It gave me a process to understand what was going on inside me and express it without criticizing, blaming or making others wrong. NVC has given me the tools to differentiate between what was happening and the story I was making up about it. This opened the door to authenticity and accountability as I connected to my feelings and values and became empowered to express my truth openly and vulnerably. At the same time there was now space inside me for others. I can now hear others and what’s alive in their hearts. This process is powerful and can support individuals, couples, groups and organizations find more connection and the win-win in any situation.
